It’s Thanksgiving, the Holidays, and Lights of Love time once again. We, at the Block Island Medical Center, are bursting with thankfulness. We are thankful for the excellent healthcare on-island. We are thankful to our health providers and Rescue Squad for the expert urgent care and coordination of care. We are thankful for the support we have in the community, expressed in any number of ways, as memorial gifts, attendance at our events, your membership, and your past generosity. We appreciate the satisfaction of working for you and your family. We love being a part of the Block Island community and being responsive to your needs.
Donations in the past year have yielded real life outcomes. Nurse Practitioner Liz Dyer tells the story of how, using one of our new diagnostic devices, she was quickly able to detect a serious, but relatively asymptomatic, cardiac condition in an individual who was dizzy. The patient was immediately transported to an off-island facility and received the care needed to prevent further cardiac damage. We are thankful for our new equipment.
While our financial stability has improved, our needs have increased. Better care means needing better equipment; more patients require more staffing. More staffing means additional and more efficient use of space. High levels of 24/7 care require assurance of fair incomes for our providers.
Your tax-deductible contribution will be recognized as an ornament on the Medical Center’s Holiday tree. Donors and honorees will be acknowledged.
