About Us:
Block Island Health Services (BIHS) is a mission-driven rural health clinic dedicated to providing high-quality, accessible healthcare to our community. We are seeking a dynamic and professional Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our organization, ensuring sustainable growth, operational excellence, and superior patient care.
Position Summary:
The CEO will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction, overseeing all aspects of the clinic’s operations, financial management, and external relations. This role requires a hands-on leader with a passion for rural healthcare, strong business acumen, and the ability to work collaboratively with the Board, staff, and community stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Governance: Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the clinic’s vision, mission, and strategic plan. Ensure adherence to policies and governance best practices.
- Operations Management: Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient service delivery, regulatory compliance, and high standards of patient care.
- Financial Oversight: Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial sustainability and growth through resource allocation, cost management, and funding initiatives.
- Human Resources & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and support a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Community & Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary spokesperson, advocating for rural healthcare, building partnerships, and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders, donors, and government entities.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local healthcare regulations, maintaining accreditation and high-quality service standards.
- Fundraising & Resource Development: Identify and secure diverse funding sources, including grants, government funding, and philanthropic support, to sustain and expand services.
Qualifications:
- Leadership experience in healthcare, nonprofit management, or a related field
- Financial management, strategic planning, and operational expertise.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated experience working with or serving on a Board of Directors, with the ability to navigate governance structures effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field preferred.
