Consider Block Island Health Services in your Planned Giving

Your support will help BIHS continue to provide full-spectrum healthcare to the Block Island community and its many visitors.

It’s always an excellent time to evaluate your estate plan and consider ways you can make a gift to support the Block Island Medical Center, strengthening the foundation of health care for all on Block Island.

 

Give from your IRA

Benefits of making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) gift directly to BIHS from your IRA:

  • At age 70 ½ or older at the time of your gift, you may make gifts (up to $100,000) tax-free

  • At age 73 or older and must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), you may give a QCD to BIHS without increasing your income taxes

  • Gifts go directly from your IRA to BIHS

  • Consider setting up an annual gift to BIHS from your IRA

Contact your IRA administrator to request a Qualified Charitable Distribution to BIHS from your IRA.

How to name BIHS as the recipient of charitable donation:

Leave a gift to BIHS in your will

Create a legacy of support for Block Island’s health care by adding BIHS to your will:

  • Give a specific item or items, for example, a certain number of shares of stock

  • Give a remainder of your estate (a residuary bequest) after all other bequests, debts, and taxes have been paid
