By combining movement forms derived from Dance, Martial Arts and the Healing Arts (Yoga and the techniques of Feldenkrais and Alexander), the practice of Nia improves balance, strength, flexibility, agility, stability and cardiovascular health. The classes are 50-60 minutes long and are conducted to an eclectic mix of great music.
Nia emphasizes conscious movement and listening to the voice of one’s own body to create holistic health and physical fitness. Participants are encouraged to move at her/his preferred level of intensity while focusing on joy of movement, not the outdated adage “no pain, no gain”.
