Linda Closter, R.N.
Linda Closter, RN, was born and raised in Newport, RI. She completed her nursing training at Newport Hospital and spent the early part of her career working in the medical intensive care unit at Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, MA. As a critical care nurse, she gained experience and expertise working with acutely ill patients and providing advanced clinical care.
Linda moved to Block Island 38 years ago and accepted the position of staff nurse when the Block Island Medical Center opened in 1989. Through the terms of 10 different medical providers and 4 executive directors, Linda has remained a constant force in healthcare delivery to the island’s residents and visitors. She manages the clinical area of the medical center, directing the flow of patients, triaging and treating. She anticipates patient needs and reaches out to patients who should be returning for follow up. She orients our Brown medical students and residents each month and ensures they are situated to begin clinical work. Her patient care skills are impeccable. Linda spearheads the community outreach annual flu vaccine administration clinics, blood pressure monitoring program, and pre-school health screenings. She is intimately familiar with the healthcare needs of the families of Block Island and often visits with patients in their homes when they cannot make the trip to the medical center.
