Nancy Ruddle, Chair, Membership Committee
Nancy H. Ruddle, PhD, a graduate of Mount Holyoke College is an immunologist who spent her entire academic career at Yale University studying autoimmune diseases in the Medical School and the School of Public Health. She held many administrative postions including Department Chair and Acting Dean of the School of Public Health. More recently she retired from the University but continues in consulting work. Ruddle has served on advisory panels and ,study sections for the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, among others. She has served on the editorial boards of several journals. She also serves on the Health Committee of HomeHaven, an organizationin in the New Haven area that helps seniors age gracefully and comfortably in place. Nancy Ruddle and her late husband first came to Block Island in 1967 and bought their house in 1993. Now that she is retired she spends more time on the island and is pleased to be a member of the Board of the BIHS where she is chair of the Membership and Elections Committee.
