Nurse Practitioner, Staff


Laurie Anderson, MSN, APRN-C, CDOE is board certified advanced practice registered nurse in family medicine and a native Rhode Islander.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA and her Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Rhode Island.

Laurie began her career as a nurse practitioner in 2003 working at the Narragansett Indian Health Center as a primary care provider, caring for individuals from newborn to tribal elder’s well visits and chronic disease management.  She has a particular interest in diabetes self-management education and wellness programs and maintains a certification as an outpatient diabetes educator (CDOE) through the state of RI.

In 2006 she became a member of the emergency department team at South County Hospital and has been an active staff member of the hospital including efforts toward quality improvement in the emergency department and at the medical staff level to encourage the engagement of advanced practice providers in medical staff meetings and bylaws decisions that affected their practice.

Laurie is affiliated with the University of Rhode Island as a clinical preceptor in the family nurse practitioner program.

When she is not working Laurie enjoys outdoor activities and is looking forward to birding, hiking, biking and enjoying the Block Island beaches.
